How's it going PAL? Blog number two is here and is jam-packed with new gadgets, new faces and of course social giving. But, lets not waste time on intros, vlog post below:
This week the delivery God's brought us the new Moment Anamorphic Lens, and to put the power of mobile filming and our latest purchase to the test we went flare hunting in the streets of Glasgow. However, when one gets a new toy...one must record the ceremonial unboxing. Agreed? AGREED.
We were beyond excited to get cracking with Moment's latest bad boy lens after seeing huge hype online and after months of following their socials.
So why did we go for the Anamorphic lens?
We believe that honest content is key, as well as selling honest products.
We wanted to show what amazing shots can be captured using only mobile, and that you don't need to break the bank on high powered gadgets to achieve it. We believe the Anamorphic Lens was the perfect addition to our film kit as it is advertised as giving:
1) great cinematic effect
2) a wider angle
3) and the shape of the lens allows you to capture good old fashioned western inspired light flares!
So we put it to the test...
The results? Let's put it this way, not only did we catch some kick-ass recordings of a top busker but 20 minutes of filming gave us amazing light flare shots with 'buttery smooth' (Jeremie quote of the year) transitions.
However, there are a few key things you should note before ordering and using this product:
- You have to also purchase a Moment Case
- You have to download the Moment App to de-squeeze your shots
- Like most of these gadgets and apps, it will suck the power from your phone which is exactly why we would recommend keeping a BiG PAL charger on you, with the ability to charge any smart phone 2 to 3 times over. Not to mention your purchase will help to educate a child in Africa...just sayin'.
Now the best bit...our CBO (Chief Banter Officer) Becca swagged onto our screens to champion one of our favourite social businesses. Outside In create awesome apparel wear, and like us have a buy one give one offering, whereby they gift a hat or sweater to a homeless person with each purchase.
HOWEVER, they have taken this business model even further... Every time you purchase a product you have the option to have that hat or sweater sent to you. Why? Because Outside In wants to encourage their customers to go and engage with those living on the streets, as this group of people suffer from isolation and feeling dehumanised because of their current situation. The power of a conversation cannot be underestimated.
SO, to celebrate these brilliant entrepreneurs we are giving away a £25 voucher for Outside In. Want to win? Then make sure to follow us on Instagram as we'll be releasing our competition next week!
So what do you think? Are you going to give the Anamorphic Lens a SHOT (pardon the pun) and get a BiG PAL to power it? Let us know in the comments below - we want to hear from you pal!
